    The Memorial Day weekend in Ritzville is a busy time, and with the growing popularity of geocaching, the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting the fourth annual Ritzville Small Town Cache Cow Event. Participants meet at the Ritzville Train Depot on the lawn on Saturday, May 28, at 9 a.m. The event begins with a meet and greet, and individuals have an opportunity to sign in for the Ritzville Small Town Cache Cow Event.   • Memorial Day services scheduled, volunteers needed to set up flags

    Memorial Day services have been planned at the Ritzville Memorial Cemetery and the Washtucna Pioneer Memorial Cemetery on Monday, May 30. Volunteers are needed on May 27 at 5:30 p.m. to assist the Ritzville VFW Post No. 11446 and American Legion Post No. 51 with setting flags up at the cemetery. The flags are taken down the evening of May 30 and volunteers are also needed to assist at the cemetery on Monday evening.   • AAUW to host book, bake sale

    The Ritzville branch of the American Association of University Women will hold their annual used book and bake sale. The sale is held downtown at the corner of Main Avenue and Washington Street on Saturday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to approximately 4 p.m. Used books will be sold for $1 each or fill a bag full for $5. A variety of baked goods will also be offered for sale.     The May 17 meeting of the Ritzville City Council began with two requests from residents in attendance. The first request came from Amy Galbreath who requested the council’s approval to set up a firework stand near the Conoco Station.
