Eleven LRS athletes qualify for State Track at EWU

The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos competed at the Regional Track Meet at Central Valley High School on May 20-21 where 11 athletes earned the right to compete at State.

The Broncos will travel to Eastern Washington University on May 27 for the chance to bring home medals in individual and team events.

Alan Field and Rachel Schell each qualified in four events. Field moves on to state to compete individually in the 100-meter, 200-meter and long jump. He also qualified as a member of the Broncos’ 4x100-meter relay team.

Schell is returning to the state meet to compete in the 100 and 200 sprints. She also will run a leg of the 4x100 and 4x200-meter relays.

Joining Field and Schell on the relay teams are Jack Anderson, Mason Brausen, Peyton Kiel, Holly Nygren, Felicia Ziemer, Dinah Gadberry and Samantha Asmussen.

Ziemer also qualified individually to compete in the 800-meter race. Kiel will also be competing individually at State in the pole vault.

Additionally, Kallie Harder will be throwing discus for the Broncos, and Sierra Kiel will compete in the high jump.
