    SPANGLE – The Broncos girls volleyball team topped the Liberty Lancers, 3-1, in a Northeast 2B matchup Thursday, Oct. 13. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna/Harrington won the first set, before dropping the second then coming back to win the next two. Set scores are 25-17, 18-25, 25-23 and 25-22.     HARRINGTON – The Lind-Ritzville/Washtucna/Harrington cross country team competed Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Harrington Golf Course. Junior Caleb Heater led the Broncos, finishing in 46th overall in the boys varsity 5,000 meter with a time of 21:29. Bronco sophomore Brix Curtis was 51st overall with a time of 21:52.     Gladys Lucille Rott Nagamitsu was born in Ritzville, Wash. on Oct. 4, 1928 to Henry and Matilda Rott. She died on Oct. 11, 2022, also in Ritzville, at the age of 94. Gladys (Gladie) grew up on the family farm, 7 miles north of Lind. She especially enjoyed helping with the livestock. Her real love was a black saddle horse, named “Bell.” She attended Lind public schools. This lovely young lady got the attention of a former U.S. Marine who had served in WWII. His name was Royal J.     We have a predator problem. And hunters are noting that it gets worse with each passing year. In the state Department of Fish and Wildife’s District No. 1 – the northeast corner of the state comprising GMUs 101, 105, 108, 111, 113, 117 and 121— cougars and wolves kill almost 20,000 deer a year.
