Othello man facing drugs, gun charges

OTHELLO – A local man was arrested Monday, Oct. 10, on firearms and drug-related charges.

Jaime Alberto Garza, 51, was booked into the jail on possible charges of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl) with intent to deliver.

The arrest occurred about 10 p.m. in the 600 block of Wagon Road during execution of a search warrant, according to a report by the Adams County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies found approximately 2,000 fentanyl pills packaged for distribution, cash, two rifles, ammunition and other items, the report said.

On Tuesday, deputies also executed a search warrant on Garza's vehicle, records show. Inside, deputies found about 100 more fentanyl pills and 4 ounces of a substance that tested positive as methamphetamine packaged for distribution.

Garza is a convicted felon and prohibited from having firearms, records show.
