    New preliminary test results are now available for blue-green algae toxin levels in Potholes Reservoir. All four samples were found to have toxin levels below the Washington State Recreational Guidelines. The samples were gathered on Aug. 22 at Lind Coulee (2 samples), O’Sullivan Shores and Potholes State Park. Potholes Reservoir was re-assessed and re-tested for toxin on Aug. 29.   • Starbucks launches school supplies drive

    The trauma program was started by Washington state years ago in order to set the standard of care for trauma victims. At that time money was set aside for participants to receive help financially. Hospitals had to apply for trauma center level designation.     A high-speed chase between the Washington State Patrol and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office and Jesse Ray Waldvogel, 25, that originated in Ritzville ended in the Cheney/Four Lakes area late on Aug. 21. The incident started as a possible domestic dispute in Ritzville that afternoon.     Voters cast favorable votes for four local maintenance and operations levies during the primary election on Aug. 16. Adams County had a 45.08 percent voter turnout. A total of 1,007 ballots were cast. The last tabulation was at 2:50 p.m. on Aug. 17. The next ballot count is slated for Aug. 31 at 11 a.m. for the remaining 15 ballots.     A one-vehicle rollover accident claimed the life of a 17-year-old male from Auburn Sunday afternoon on Interstate 90 at milepost 219. The accident occurred at 2:43 p.m. as Diane M. Vanquill, 44, was heading westbound in a 1996 Ford station wagon when the left rear tire failed, causing the vehicle to rollover onto the westbound shoulder.     Local emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle accident at U.S. 395 and Highway 26 Sunday afternoon. Vincent A. Deliso, 87, of Pasco, was southbound in a 1995 Oldsmobile Cierra on Pence Road and failed to stop at a stop sign at 3:13 p.m. A 2008 Hyundai Accent driven by Patricia K.     The 2011 Danekas DIG’s Invitational Golf Tournament, in its 46th year, was started by Ralph Danekas at Priest Lake in 1965. It has been held in Ritzville since 1975.
