    Virgil Glenn McCrady entered into rest in Ritzville on May 1, at the age of 83. He was born in Chehalis, Wash., on June 27, 1928, to Monte F. and Martha M. (Krause) McCrady, his father died when he was 11-months-old. His mother found work in California and he was raised by his aunt, Molly Schmidt, and his maternal grandparents William and Margaret Krause.     Freda B. Mead died at the age of 89 on Monday, May 7, at Stonebridge Memory Care Center in Vancouver, Wash. She was born on July 5, 1922, to Fred and Lisa Bergum in rural eastern Montana. She married Hugh J. Mead on February 24, 1945. The couple moved to Lind, where they raised their family and owned Mead’s Welding and Repair.     The Broncos are sending six golfers to the district match on Monday following a strong showing this week at a sub-district event at Meadow Wood and Liberty Lake. Freshman Trevor Jantz was the story of the day for the Broncos as he shot a personal best of 85.     The 2012 Men’s League at Ritzville Municipal Golf Course is underway. The first round of play is in the books and the results were released this week.     According to Wheat Land Communities’ Fair treasurer, Aaron Esser, the annual Wampum event raised an impressive $11,000 on May 5, one of the largest amounts recorded in recent history.     EMT–B Classes are scheduled to begin in Lind and Washtucna during the end of May. EMT’s are looking for volunteers willing to take the class.
