She was the third child of six to Catherine Peot (Harder) and Leo M. Peot. Her parents were founding German and French pioneers of Washington State.     Catherine Louise Principata was born on Jan. 11, 1924, in Helper, Utah. In 1943, she met and married Guy VanVleet while he was serving with the U. S. Army during World War II. The couple relocated to Ritzville where they raised six boys: Dale, Joe, Ronnie, Nathan, Robert, and Terry. After Guy's passing in 1973, Catherine married Tony Pearce.
