Curtis was born in Ritzville, Wash. on Jan. 21, 1959 to Stanley and Joan Schell. He joined a sister, Cindy and a brother Clay. Curt passed away after a 2-year battle with cancer on Nov. 17, 2021 in the hospital where he was born, with his loving fiancée, Tracy, by his side.

In his kindergarten year the family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and lived in Hayward, Calif. Curt was involved in Scouting, Little League, & gymnastics.
