    The “Ready to Show” horse clinic is being held on this Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Ritzville Rodeo Arena. Ritzville Rodeo Queen, Haley Oestreich, is leading the clinic. Registration and check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and all contestants then receive a final schedule of events. The clinic includes Western Pleasure, Western Equation and Trail. Each of the classes has different age groups and a simple course for each category for the show will be posted during the lunch break.     The Ralston Grange is having a work night in preparation for the upcoming Wheat Land Communities’ Fair. The work night is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 23, at 6:30 p.m. Plans for the work night are to clean the bingo building at the fairgrounds and transport supplies to the building from Ralston’s hall. Anyone willing to help clean the building is asked to bring cleaning supplies.   • ACDC seeks teams for annual golf tourney

    The Adams County Development Council (ACDC) is hosting the fourth annual open four-person scramble at Othello Golf Club on Saturday, Aug. 25. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Check-in begins at 12 p.m. and a single entry fee is $75, and team entry fees are $300. Entry fees include green fees, cart, dinner and drinks. Individuals interested in attending the dinner and auction are charged $20 per person.   • Lind firefighters stayed busy last week

    Lind Fire Department crews were dispatched multiple times during the afternoon and evening hours on Aug. 8 to respond to fire calls throughout Adams County. The first call happened around 3 p.m. for a cheatgrass fire alongside U.S. Route 395 and State Route 26, at the Country Travel Plaza. Initially, Lind was the only station dispatched to the scene. Lind Fire had a repeat call to have more trucks respond to the scene. Connell, Warden, and Adams County District 5 were dispatched as well. Crews did not return to the station...

The donated money will be used to help pay for tuitions for EMT classes and to purchase needed items for the Lind ambulance.     The total amount of ballots counted in the primary election for Adams County now totals 2,851, amounting to 45.70 percent of the registered voters in the county. The Superior Court Judge position, which is decided in the primary, remains in favor of Brian Miller. Miller received 1,529 votes, totaling 55.84 percent of votes. Randy Flyckt earned 1,209 votes for 44.16 percent of votes cast in the election. For Commissioner District No. 1, incumbent Rudy Plager maintains the lead with 910 votes, totaling 56.70 percent of votes....

    It is time to register for NFL flag football. NFL flag football is open to all incoming Kindergarten through sixth grade students. Deadline to register is Thursday, Aug. 30.   • Sprague cemetery hit again by vandals

    For the second time this summer Maccabee Cemetery in Sprague, has been the victim of theft. Hoses, weed trimmers, gas and more have been taken from a locked shed. This past month some of the pipes and sprinkler heads were taken off the grounds.
