4-H Club preps for upcoming fair

Reporter, Ritzville 4-H Livestock Club

The Ritzville 4-H Livestock Club met July 26. Leading pledges were Caden Liberty and Brynne Nelson.

The club is looking for used lariats as fair decoration to do the theme of “lasso up some fun.”

Members are enthusiastic to figure out gifts to give to their buyers at the sale as their animals sell. A sheep-shearing day is being planned for the five members with market lambs.

Caden Liberty, Merlee Liberty, Erica Leffel, Bryce Kelly and Abby Gering presented demonstrations. Caden Liberty presented about a new breed of goat called Kinders. Merlee Liberty presented “How bees effect sheep.” Leffel explained the “Triple Crown” in horse racing as she is a member of the Saddle Warmers Club, also. Kelly gave his demonstration on “Getting your pig ready for the fair.” Gering presented, “How to pick that blue ribbon pig.”

The next meeting was Aug. 13 and leader Camille Nelson signed off on record books and fair entry forms. The club will continue doing a show clothing exchange.

Bryce Esser, Easton Nelson, Kierstin Witt, Grace Greenwalt, Drew Kelly, Wyatt Shafer, Trinity Wyma, Eliza Galbreath, Brynne Nelson and Jesse Anderson will give demonstrations.

Any youth interested in carrying a 4-H Project in livestock sciences may become involved by contacting Camille Nelson at 659-0832, or by email at [email protected].
