“Puttin’ on the Ritz” attracts 44 lady golfers

Twenty-two teams competed in the women’s only Puttin’ on the Ritz golf tournament at the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course on Monday, Aug. 13.

The 44 participants spent the day on the course, followed by lunch and awards.

Teams competing in the competition consisted of two players per team. Teams were: Debbie Thaemert and Mary Cox, Marium Clark and Lydia Toner, Mary Owen and Beth Habib, Jeri Stone and Merllina Tate, Nancy Burke and Roxanne Burke, Ronna Galbreath and Shirley Bartelle, Shannon Shroyer and Marsha Holstein, Dorothy Clinesmith and Lisa Cox, Liz Henry and Kathy Knudsvig, Gaynel Gering and Cheryl Henjum, Barb Trout and Pat Suko, Harriet Lynch and Sheena Rehm, Karen Ostrander and Kathy Anderson, Linda Howell and Joan Dicus, Dixie Brannon and Donna Thompson, Tina Craig and Donna Schierer, Mary Duncan and Marilyn Kurtz, Kathy Schuler and Kathy Hastings, Anna Carpenter and Carolyn Peterson, Barbara Leyva and Elissa Helfer, Patti Perkins and Karen Weems.

The highest grossing team was Hastings/Shuler, followed by Perkins/Weems in second place and Leyva/Helfer in third. The teams of Shroyer/Holstrum and Brannon/Thompson tied as the high net team. Third net went to Thaemert/Cox, fourth was a tie between Dicus/Howell and Craig/Schmirer, sixth was also a tie between Stone/Tate and Toner/Clark and the seventh net team was Galbreath/Bartelle.

Carpenter received the accuracy award, Henjum earned the closest to pin on two strokes award on the fourth and 13th holes and Perkins received the award for closest to pin on holes two and 11 with a 0-29 handicap.

Craig earned the long putt award on hole five and 14, Leyva won the long drive with a handicap of 30-38 and Shroyer won the long drive with a handicap of 0-29.
