Ballot counts continue

The total amount of ballots counted in the primary election for Adams County now totals 2,851, amounting to 45.70 percent of the registered voters in the county.

The Superior Court Judge position, which is decided in the primary, remains in favor of Brian Miller. Miller received 1,529 votes, totaling 55.84 percent of votes. Randy Flyckt earned 1,209 votes for 44.16 percent of votes cast in the election.

For Commissioner District No. 1, incumbent Rudy Plager maintains the lead with 910 votes, totaling 56.70 percent of votes. Opponent John Marshall has 511 votes, equaling 31.84 percent of the total votes. Donald Gentry, whose name does not appear on the general ballot, has 184 votes and 11.46 percent of total votes.

In the position of Commissioner District No. 2, incumbent Roger Hartwig maintains the lead with 346 votes, totaling 68.51 percent of voter turnout. Oscar Garza currently has 159 votes, for 31.49 percent of votes.

Lind Park and Recreation District No. 3 maintenance and operation (M&O) levy, has 166 votes in approval of the levy, totaling 59.93 percent of votes. The Ritzville Park and Recreation District No. 4 M&O levy has 556 votes in approval of the levy, totaling 65.26 percent of votes.

The Washtucna Park and Recreation No. 2 M&O levy is at 75 votes in favor, totaling 57.25 percent of votes. The Washtucna Cemetery District No. 1 M&O levy is currently at 113 votes in approval, totaling 83.70 percent of votes.

All M&O levies require a 60 percent vote in favor of the levy in order to pass.

The next ballot count takes place on Friday, Aug. 17, at 5 p.m.
