    Three candidates are vying for the Adams County Commissioner District Three position in Othello. The candidates are listed on the Aug. 5 primary election ballot for residents residing within the district and only two candidates continue on to the general election ballot for the countywide vote.     The Northwest Singer Songwriter tour canceled its Aug. 10 show at the Ritz Theatre. The cancelation is due to health reasons with one of the musicians. Because of the cancelation the next show at the Ritz Theatre will be Aug. 17. The Northwest Singer Songwriter Tour featured several artists from the region. Local artist Chelsey Heidenreich was also going to perform.   • Local Parks and Rec districts place M&O levies on ballot

    This year there will be four Maintenance and Operations Levies on the ballot Aug. 5 and all of them are comparable to last year. The levy from Cemetery District No. 1 increased this year to $8,500, an estimated $0.19 per thousand dollars of assessed value. The increase in the levy is due to increased operation costs for the cemetery.     Even though there were rain showers in several parts of western Washington recently, a statewide ban on outdoor burning remains in effect for all lands that the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) protects from wildfire on both sides of the Cascades. O’Brien reported that despite having an ad in multiple papers he has not received any applications for the two solid waste positions that are available in Adams County. The boards both approved budgets for the upcoming year and toured the facilities to see the updates being completed by McKinstry. Fees for the 2014-15 school year are $35 for a high school ASB card, $30 for a middle school ASB card and a $5 fee for each sport.
