    The H.E. Gritman Senior Center will host its pancake breakfast on Friday, June 12, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is the last pancake breakfast until September. Breakfast will feature pancakes, a choice of ham or sausage, juice and coffee with a suggested donation of $5 per person. The breakfast serves as a fundraiser for the senior center and is held the second Friday of every month, except during the summer. The H.E.     The Town of Lind is set to host thousands of visitors this weekend for the 28th Annual Lind Derby Extravaganza Weekend. The annual event kicks off entertainment on Friday night with car and pickup races, before hosting a slew of events on Saturday at the Lind Lions Club Arena.     The Ninth Annual Ritzville Community Yard Sale is slated for Saturday, June 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the City of Ritzville. There is not a charge to participate in the sale. Individuals may visit the Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce to receive a form in order to be listed on the map.   • Fatality wreck claims the life of area resident

    Washington State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle rollover collision on Sunday, June 7, which claimed the life of 35-year-old Ritzville resident Matthew Bren. The fatality wreck occurred nine miles south of Lind on State Route 21. The collision occurred just after 7:30 a.m. when Bren failed to negotiate a curve. The 2007 Toyota Prius Hatchback left the roadway, heading down a slope into a plowed field.     The Adams County Commissioners met with Adams County Sheriff John Hunt on Monday, June 8, to make a decision regarding the overtime budget. After multiple meetings between the two parties, the Commissioners voted to expend additional funds in the amount of $20,000 for law enforcement staffing, training and the overtime fund.     Family, friends and community members gathered to celebrate the achievements and the commencement ceremony for the Lind-Ritzville High School Class of 2015 on Saturday, June 6, at Gilson Gymnasium.     Vera Adeline (Smith) Nissen, 94, died on Tuesday May 12, in Kirkland, Washington. Vera was the last surviving child of twelve children born to Warren and Marie (Siegel) Smith.
