    Upon approval of previous minutes and claims, the Lind Town Council completed the resolution to allow golf carts to be driven on Lind streets, a resolution for surplus items has been agreed upon and issues regarding fines pertaining to dog owners in Lind. Council members unanimously authorized Resolution 15-02 requiring golf cart registration and annual fees.     Fourth of July weekend brought smiles and excitement with the annual parade through downtown Washtucna and activities followed in the park.   • Commissioners authorize additional funds for Sheriff’s Department

    The Adams County Commissioners met with Adams County Sheriff John Hunt on Monday, June 8, to make a decision regarding the overtime budget. After multiple meetings between the two parties, the Commissioners voted to expend additional funds in the amount of $20,000 for law enforcement staffing, training and the overtime fund. Since the beginning of May, the overtime budget has been 20 percent over the budgeted amount.     Adams County Sheriff John Hunt met with commissioners Wednesday, May 20, to discuss the overtime budget for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. Hunt began with informing commissioners that as of the end of April, 56.1 percent of the set budget for overtime on the police force has been used.   • Museum Volunteers discuss year’s events, prepare for upcoming season

    The regularly scheduled Ritzville Museum Volunteer meeting held at Memories Diner on Tuesday, May 12, began with updates regarding the Dr. Frank R. Burroughs’ Home and Train Depot museums. Needed repairs to the Burroughs Home porch was made with the project totaling roughly $1,000. The museum volunteers had applied for a grant, which will reimburse the committee funds.     Lind-Ritzville Middle School students celebrated Earth Day by writing informative essays about composting and fertilizer made with the help of red worms.     Brandon and Tricia Egbert are the proud new owners of Ritzville’s first distillery. The Whiskey Gap Distillery is named after an area north of Spokane through northern Idaho and Montana. Head coach Todd O’Brien stated the first game of the double header went heavily in favor for Colfax, with the best pitcher out of the league throwing pitches with a velocity the Lady Broncos hadn’t seen before.     Horse drawn carriages are a thing of the past ending their 300-year run in the early 20th century. Tom Strohmaier of Lind has creatively taken the iron pieces from carriages and buggies and welded them together, bringing the iron back to life in giant sculptures.
