Fatality wreck claims the life of area resident

Washington State Patrol responded to a one-vehicle rollover collision on Sunday, June 7, which claimed the life of 35-year-old Ritzville resident Matthew Bren. The fatality wreck occurred nine miles south of Lind on State Route 21.

The collision occurred just after 7:30 a.m. when Bren failed to negotiate a curve. The 2007 Toyota Prius Hatchback left the roadway, heading down a slope into a plowed field.

The vehicle rolled several times, ejecting the driver before coming to rest on its side, the Washington State Patrol report states. Bren was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, according to the report.

The report states speed was the cause of the collision.

Bren’s services have not yet been scheduled, and will be published in the paper in the upcoming weeks.
