  • Gillette is gallery's featured First Friday artist

    Liz Gillette has been selected as the First Friday art show at the Ritzville Art Center on Friday, July 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. Gillette plans to display a wide variety of quilts, wall hangings and table runners that she has created in the last 30 years. Most of Gillette’s artwork is for sale, but some pieces she is bringing for display purposes only, such as her antique quilt squares.   • Voters reminded to register for primary

    This is a reminder to any person who is currently registered to vote in Washington State that they have until July 9 to update their voter registration to Adams County. After July 9, voter registration closes to transfers and address changes until after the August 7 primary election. State law permits persons to register to vote through July 30, provided they are new registrants to the state of Washington.   • Contract negotiations ongoing for CEO

    Commissioners for the local hospital district agreed to amend a draft contract as it works to reach agreement with a potential new CEO. The commissioners met in executive session on Thursday, June 28, to discuss terms requested by Rick Richards. Following the closed session, the panel returned to an open meeting setting unanimously approved new contract terms.     Anders Forselius is on a cycling journey from Olympia, Wash., to Olympia, Greece, but his adventure expands beyond just a biking trip. Forselius, also known as the Biking Viking, has a mission to bike through all 50 states and during his time there, compete in at least one marathon per state.     The Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 2739 donated $650 to the Ritzville Water Park Assistance fund that helps provide opportunities to local youth and families at the park.     During the Spokane Hoopfest street basketball tournament last weekend, around 25 local teams participated in the largest three-on-three basketball competition in the world.     Due to the Fourth of July holiday, newspapers were printed on Tuesday, rather than Wednesday. Single copies were available for purchase Tuesday night at area retailers. However, local subscribers will receive their newspaper on Thursday, July 5, like normal as there is no mail delivery on Wednesday.
