  • Monthly pancake feast Friday at senior center

    The H.E. Gritman Senior Center is hosting the monthly pancake breakfast on Friday, March 14, from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Pancakes, a choice of ham or sausage, and juice or coffee, are on the breakfast menu this Friday with a suggested donation of $5 per person. The breakfast serves as a fundraiser for the senior center and is held the second Friday of every month, except during the summer. The H.E.   • Governor traveling to Palouse Falls to sign bill

    At the request of the Washtucna School District staff and students, Governor Jay Inslee has agreed to travel to Palouse Falls on Tuesday, March 18, to sign House Bill 2119, which designates Palouse Falls as the official waterfall of Washington. The signing ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m. at the state park and the Washtucna students who were involved with the drafting of the bill will be present to witness the bill being signed.   • Drivers reminded to move left for emergency vehicles

    The Washington State Patrol is reminding drivers that state law requires them to slow down, and move left if safe, when passing emergency vehicles stopped beside the roadway. Emergency vehicles include police cars, fire trucks, ambulances, tow trucks and highway maintenance vehicles with emergency lights activated.     The Lenten Soup Suppers have begun and community members are invited to attend the annual event. The theme for the Ritzville Ministerial Association’s Lenten Season is “Were you there?” Each soup supper is served and immediately followed by a short worship service.     With a little over two months before the 38th running of the Lilac Bloomsday Run, over 8,000 runners and walkers have registered, and a final tally of 50,000 is expected by race day.
