The Broncos fell to MWP in the first round on...

    Dale Anderson|Updated Mar 13, 2014

The NCAA has captured the March Madness idea and it has run with it. The basketball tournament is better known as March Madness than the NCAA basketball tournament. I, for one, am not mad when the games begin, I’m rather happy. It traditionally starts out for me that first week in March with the State B tournament. So there I was last week, watching the action like many LRS fans both local and those making their homes in the Spokane area. Personally, I take a couple of days o... Full story

  • Obama needs to approve Keystone

    Updated Mar 13, 2014

We have the White House and their party trying to shift the news media away from their most recent problems. We had warm weather, draught, electricity shortage, and petroleum shortages for many years. Think back to the 70s with California talking about running a pipeline from the Columbia River, lines at the gas pump, room temperatures at 62 degrees in schools and government buildings. Also, we need to remember rationing during World War II. We would have enough petroleum if Obama would approve Keystone and the electricity...

  • Read the book/Bible to find truth and meaning

    Updated Mar 13, 2014

We in our household agree with the editor who titled Pastor Steve Schofstoll’s Pastor’s Perspective of last week: “read the book,” i.e., the Holy Bible. Unfortunately a few things raised by Pastor Schofstoll will require alternative searches as Ash Wednesday and Lent, are not to be found in the Bible; Google searches will provide good information regarding the origins of Ash Wednesday and Lent and the other aspects of the 40 days mentioned. They are the inventions of the Roman Catholic Church. A number of protestant denomin... Full story

The final stage of the legislative session began Saturday. Friday the Senate finished voting on bills that had already been passed by the House of Representatives. We spent our Saturday on what are called “concurrences” – meaning we look at the changes made to Senate bills by the House, and decide whether to agree. Because we spent most of the week voting in the Senate chamber there was little time for visitors; that’s why it was such a nice surprise when Adams County Commissioner John Marshall and Whitman County Commiss...
