    The Relay For Life of Ritzville committee is having the initial meeting to discuss the date and goal for the 2013 event on Monday, Nov. 19, in the Ritzville Visitors’ Center.     A night of bingo, endless popcorn and the opportunity to win a turkey, is a winning combination during the annual Turkey Bingo event in Washtucna on Saturday, Nov. 17, at the Lions Den on Main Street.     Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Ritzville Adams County Journal is operating under an earlier deadline for the Nov. 22 edition of the paper. The deadline for advertising and news submissions is Monday, Nov. 19, by 5 p.m. The newspaper will return to regular deadlines the following week.     The ballot count conducted by the Adams County Auditor’s Office on Friday, Nov. 9, shows the Washtucna Park and Recreation Maintenance and Operation (M&O) levy and the Ritzville School District capital levy, still failing by a small margin. At the Friday tally, 4,804 ballots had been recorded and counted from Adams County voters, a voter turnout of 74.4 percent.     Harrington author David Michaelson has received two additional awards for his science fiction genre. At a recent convention for the Military’s Writers Society of America, Michaelson’s science fiction trilogy received an Honorable Mention for the first book, “The Centauri Intervention.” The sequel, “Bittersweet Colony,” was awarded First Runner Up during the convention in Dayton, Ohio.     Over the course of the past few months, staff members at the Ritzville Public Library have been busy working on upgrades to help expand the list of services available to patrons. These updates include both technological and physical improvements to the library. A senior at Lind-Ritzville High School, and the son of John and Laurinda Ritz, Kyle is a bilateral amputee.
