Chamber’s community awards, benefit delayed

The Ritzville Area Chamber of Commerce’s annual Community Recognition Night and Auction, previously planned for Saturday, Nov. 17, has been postponed, due to the recent scheduling of the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos quarterfinals football game.

“The opportunity for our high school football players to compete in the WIAA State Football Playoffs is major achievement for the players and their families and friends. The chamber board decided very quickly and unanimously that we should postpone our community awards banquet and benefit auction. We’re all Broncos fans, and therefore we should all be at Gonzaga Prep on Saturday night to cheer for the team,” said RACC president, Stephen McFadden.

The banquet serves as a time for the entire community to come together to honor community leaders, volunteers, educators and students for their significant accomplishments during the past year. Postponement of the event avoids a major schedule conflict and helps ensure as many people as possible can attend to honor these individuals.

After considering the community’s calendar, and the availability of the facility and caterer, the banquet is being moved to early February. This allows the chamber board to avoid any conflict with previously planned Christmas and New Year’s events.

A tentative date has been set for Saturday, Feb. 9, and the American Legion Hall has been reserved. The board members are now waiting to confirm the availability of the caterer.

Tickets that have already been purchased will still be honored at the postponed event. For more information, contact the chamber at 659-1936 or by email at [email protected].
