    The Town of Lind is set to host thousands of visitors this weekend for the 31st Annual Lind Derby Extravaganza Weekend. The annual event kicks off entertainment on Friday night with car and pickup races, before hosting a variety of events on Saturday at the Lind Lions Club Arena. The weekend of derby action begins with the annual car races on June 8, with time trials at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m. Due to the increasing amount of pickups entered into the event, pickup races join the car-racing event on Friday evening....

  • Raffle drawing allows winner to drive combine in Derby

    After the success last year, the Lind Lions Club is once again hosting a raffle drawing during the beginning of the Combine Demolition Derby with the winner receiving the chance to drive a combine in the Derby competition.   • SNYP receives grant for trap-neuter-return project

    The local Spay Neuter Your Pet (SNYP) organization received a grant from the Washington Federation of Animal Control and Care. The grant will go toward funding a trap-neuter-return (TNR) effort for the feral cat population in Ritzville. SNYP Board Member Mikki Kison explained the six-month project will focus on trapping and neutering or spaying feral cats and returning them to the trapping location. Butch was born October 13, 1944 in Wapato, Washington to parents, Richard Eldon and Opal (Walker) Phillips. He had two sisters and one step sister. Butch served in the US Army from October 13, 1961 to May 8, 1963. He received the Army Occupation Medal (Berlin) and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal. He spent at least 30 years driving truck.
