    The Adams County Wheat Growers will meet following the Washington State University Plot Tour on June 7. The tour is scheduled from 3-5 p.m., with a barbecue to follow, at the home of Ron Jirava. Those attending are asked to register by call 659-3212 by June 5. WSU Extension and the Adams County Wheat Growers Association sponsor the tour. Jirava’s farm is located at 1551 North Dewald Road.     The Ritzville Public Library announced Sharma Shields will be at the WSU Extension Office on Friday, June 9, for an author reading of her book, “The Sasquatch’s Hunter’s Almanac”.   • Lind Council approves marijuana moratorium ordinance

    The Lind Town Council approved Ordinance No. 2017-02 pertaining a marijuana moratorium in the town during the regular meeting on Tuesday, May 23. The ordinance establishes a six-month moratorium on marijuana producing, processing and sales in the town.   • Hospital Board of Commissioners approve landscaping bid

    The Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners met at their regular meeting on May 25 and discussed the financial situation of the District, as well as approved a landscaping bid for the facilty. The Board reviewed and approved a landscaping bid from Naturescape Northwest to complete work around the hospital facility.     The Adams County Historical Society is seeking church records to be digitized for those tracing their lineage in the county. The following records have been located: Lind Community Church, Zion and Philadelphia United Church of Christ, Salem Church, Benge Community Church and Washtucna Community Church.     The Lind and Ritzville School Board members unanimously approved to allow the Kahlotus School District to join in the athletic cooperative. The decision came at the conclusion of the Boards’ regular meeting on May 22 in Lind. The Kahlotus School District will be responsible for paying a fifth of the costs involved with athletics.     The LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus track and field team traveled to the State Championships with five athletes competing at the meet on May 26-27. The team not only recorded top finishes, but also set multiple personal records. The LWK Tigercats girls’ team earned 19 points during the meet, and placed 13th in the state.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track and field athletes who qualified for the State Championships in Cheney, made sure to compete to capture a place on the podium on May 26-27.
