    Church services during Holy Week in Ritzville and through the Benge Community Church have been announced. Zion Philadelphia is hosting a Palm Sunday breakfast at 9 a.m. on March 28, along with the Children’s Program, led by Stacey Schoessler. At 10:30 a.m., the worship and Palm Sunday procession begin.   • Easter egg hunts begin Saturday, March 28, in Ralston, Ritzville

    The Easter holiday festivities are kicked off with Easter egg hunts in the Ritzville, Lind, Ralston and Washtucna communities, beginning this week. The annual Ralston Grange Easter Egg Hunt will be held at the Ralston Park on Saturday, March 28, at 9 a.m. Kids of all ages, from toddler on up, are welcome to participate. Every child taking part will go home with eggs and a candy treat. Each family participating is asked to donate one dozen hardboiled, decorated eggs.   • City of Ritzville’s clean-up week begins March 30

    The City of Ritzville is hosting a Clean-Up Week in coordination with the Adams County Clean-Up day, which is slated for April 4. In Ritzville, appliance pick up and disposal is available for residents on the evening of Tuesday, March 31. Residents may place their old appliances in their alleyway, or if an alley is not available, the appliances can be left at the curbside.   • Annual PQA Class on April 19

    The annual Pork Quality Assurance (PQA) class is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, at the Bronco Farm Supply store. All 4-H and FFA members who plan on exhibiting a market animal at any fair or show in the State of Washington are required to attend a PQA (Pork Quality Assurance) class.   • City approves street closure for art show on Memorial Day weekend

    Dennis Chamberlain went before the city council Tuesday, March 17, requesting the closure of Pioneer Plaza during Memorial weekend, Saturday, May 23. Chamberlain is working with fellow community members as well as artists from Idaho and Canada in a grass roots effort to bring back an art show to Ritzville.     On the heels of Gov. Jay Inslee’s March 13 declaration of drought for three Washington regions comes a forecast predicting dust storms and wildfires in the months ahead.     The City of Ritzville is the beneficiary of a generous and reoccurring gift as a result of the establishment of the Willard and Patricia Hennings Fund. Administered by the Inland Northwest Community Foundation, the new fund has been created to support public charitable purposes in Ritzville. Linda Kadlec will serve as the administrator of the fund on behalf of the city.     A season for the ages ended last week in Portland when the Georgetown Hoyas defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles. Like many mid-major schools like EWU the Eagles got off to a pretty good start and with a few threes took an early lead over the much bigger Hoyas. Once Georgetown inflicted some brute force without the referees calling a few fouls the Eagles finesse game was halted for a long stretch of the first and second halves.
