City approves street closure for art show on Memorial Day weekend

Dennis Chamberlain went before the city council Tuesday, March 17, requesting the closure of Pioneer Plaza during Memorial weekend, Saturday, May 23.

Chamberlain is working with fellow community members as well as artists from Idaho and Canada in a grass roots effort to bring back an art show to Ritzville.

These artists are working on publicizing and organizing the show with individuals from local and surrounding areas.

With space on the plaza for up to 13 vendors, Chamberlain stated it would benefit the car club, who has their annual car show on Main Street, Sunday, May 24, bringing more visitors, creating contacts and growth for future ventures.

Chamberlain and partners have high hopes to make the art show an annual and popular event.

Financing for this event has been discussed with money donated from funds from the state and vendor fees will be decided.

The motion passed, pending local business and car club approval, which, Chamberlain will personally request.
