Howard Heil

Howard Heil, 75, died Feb. 21 at his home in Lind. He was born in Ritzville on Feb. 1, 1939, and was a lifetime resident of Lind.

Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Lind High School in 1957. He farmed the family farm until later in life when he moved into Lind and worked in the field of fertilizer and chemicals.

He was a livestock 4-H leader and a leader of the Lind Sage Riders Horse Club. He was a member of Lind Alumni, Lind Senior Center and Good Hope Lutheran Church. He served on the church council, Lind Alumni Board, Lind Senior Center Board, Lind Medical Clinic Board and one term as Lind Mayor, during Lind’s centennial.

Howard is survived by his wife Phyllis Zarndt Heil of 56 years; daughters, Lori (Tom) Strohmaier of Lind and Debbie (Ben) Sitton of Washtucna; son, Richard (Delaine) Heil of Tempe, Ariz .; sister, Hazel (Wilbur) Voth of Moundridge, Kan .; grandchildren, Samantha (Walter) Crow, Ty (Cortnie) Strohmaier, both of Lind, and Elizabeth Sitton of Washtucna; Richard’s three children and his three step-children; great-grandsons; William Crow, Sean Crow and Michael Strohmaier; one nephew and a niece.

Memorial services are scheduled at Good Hope Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 8, at 11a.m. A private inurnment will be at Lind Cemetery. Danekas Funeral Home and Crematory in Ritzville is entrusted with arrangements.
