  • Ralston Grange sponsoring cribbage tournament

    The Ralston Grange is sponsoring a cribbage tournament at the hall on Saturday, Jan. 31, beginning at noon. There is a $5 entrance fee to participate, and no experience is necessary. All of those participating will be taught how to play cribbage prior to the tournament. Attendees can bring their own cribbage board and snacks to share.     The Lind-Ritzville FFA members will be selling Little Caesar’s Pizza until Jan. 30. The profits from the sales will go toward sending members to the State FFA Convention in Pullman. The convention will be held May 14-16. The cost of each member to attend is approximately $250. The chapter only allows students who are competing to attend.     Generous donations from local businesses and organizations will help the Ritzville Fire Department continue to upgrade its equipment. Fire Chief Jim Bostic reported a total of $7,500 has been received by the fire department from the donations and a grant from Burlington Northern Santa Fe, who also purchased new air tanks for the department.     With the unseasonal warmth and high amount of rainfall which closed many gravel roads in the county last weekend maintenance crews were working on erosion repair as well as wash boarding on gravel roads throughout the county reported Public Works Director Todd O’Brien.     The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos started last week’s games on Tuesday, Jan. 20, against the Connell Eagles. The Broncos jumped to an early lead, scoring 23 points in the first quarter to the Eagles’ 17. The Broncos’ scoring lagged in the second quarter and at the half they trailed by three points.
