Roybal expands chiropractic care practice to Ritzville

Ritzville has proven to have a high demand for pain management, geriatric chiropractic therapy and sports ther- apy. Dr. April Roybal, of Spokane, realized this fact in the very short four weeks of introducing her different techniques of chiropractics and muscu- lar work into the commu- nity.

Roybal has worked one day per week in Ritz- ville since April. After having new patients re- ferred to her by Ritzville resident and owner of Hand to Health Therapeu- tic Massage, Diane Swift, Roybal began traveling in belief that a need for her services will be found in Ritzville.

Roybal met Swift while working in the same multi-disciplinary sports complex in Spokane. Swift traveled Wednesdays to Champion Sports Medicine to work with her selected patients in the area. After speak-

ing with Roybal of her ad- vanced technical training and love of geriatric care, Swift encouraged her to travel to Ritzville for the needs of her specific and individual chiropractic technique.

The two discussed sharing of Swift’s office space during the time she was in Spokane, with Roybal bringing her travel table and tools. Within just four weeks of venturing to Ritzville for her current customers and new referrals, she was expanding her hours throughout the day with a recent decision to expand even further.

As of June 1, Roy- bal will be helping the community by adding variety to chiropractic care available in Ritzville two days per week. She is excited to add to the amazing diversity of care currently in the Ritzville area and has been com- pletely awestruck by the welcoming by residents.

One specific, besides the all around kindness and open armed welcome, Roybal expressed the gratitude and appreciation of her work. A number of customers entered her office with paperwork fin- ished, any copies needed made, co-pay ready to

go, and an encouraging welcome and appreciation of the experienced and dedicated care they had been referred to.

Roybal has a strong will to help with pain and recovery. She speaks very highly of her job and experience expressing the love and dedication to her career focus. She works with numerous small tools to aid in her practice. One tool is the activator, a small tool with a quick punch action to help get into muscles without us- ing so much of a twisting and cranking of the body.

Kinesio tape made by Dr. Kenzo Kase is another favorite of Roybal. With her advanced training with the special “finger- print” tape, she can create relaxation or tension in the muscles for elongat- ed periods of time. This method, she states, is an extra edge on muscle control and stabiliza- tion. Along with turning muscles on or off, with the Kinesio tape Roybal can create channels for drainage commonly used on patients with lymphoid issues.

Originally from Milwaukee, Roybal began her education at the University of Milwaukee prior to moving to Iowa and attending Davenport University. After complet- ing her degrees, she began her career in the field and moved to Portland, Oregon to attend Western Oregon University.

At Western Ore- gon she began working full time in chiropractic care. To expand her pain therapy classes, Roybal enrolled in a program specific to current chiro- practic care persons al- ready working in the field. There she studied sports therapy, while working and attending school half on campus in the class- room and the remainder online.

A resident of Spo- kane for 18 years, the mother of two high school athletes and owner of two dogs, Roybal takes pride in her work and has been with Champions Sports Medicine for some time now.

Roybal states that chiropractic is the bread and butter of her practice but with the variety, tech- nical training, low force gentle techniques for pain management and certified as a personal trainer in the muscular skeletal system, her goal is to expand services in Ritzville.

She knows that getting better is a rough road and takes a long time. Roybal enjoys and looks forward to sharing her experience by educat- ing patients through their personal health goals.

Traveling and working in Ritzville has been life changing, according to Roybal, with the amount of appreciation and open heartedness the communi- ty has shown.

Beginning June 1, a portion of the building next to Swift’s office will become Roybals with no need for a travel table or temporary set up, and Roybal will be open for the needs of the commu- nity. For more informa- tion or to book an ap- pointment contact Roybal at 509-844-8134.
