Filing week looms

Political hopefuls to file from May 6-10

RITZVILLE — The Adams County Auditor’s Office is gearing up for election filing season.

Candidates for Adams County Commissioner District Nos. 1 and 2 can file for office from Monday through Friday, May 6-10.

The filing fee for the office is $780.45.

Dan Blankenship is the incumbent in District No. 1 and Jay Weise the incumbent in District No. 2.

Commission candidates must reside within their voting district, Adams County Auditor Heidi Hunt said, noting fees are due at filing.

In addition to the commission seats, filing is opening for all precinct committee officers; there isn’t a filing fee for those offices.

Local candidates may file in person at the Adams County Auditor’s Office, 106 W. Main Ave., Ritzville, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during filing week.

Online filing is also available 24 hours a day during filing week, except Friday, May 10, when filing closes at 5 p.m. To file online, log onto http://www.co.adams.wa.us and select “Elections” on the right side of the webpage.

Outside of local offices, several state, legislative and judicial offices — including Adams County Superior Court judge — are also open for filing through the Washington Secretary of State Office.
