    A former resident in the Adams County Jail filed a lawsuit against Adams County and Sheriff Doug Barger in Lincoln County Superior Court on June 7. Thomas Davis is seeking unspecified damages from Adams County and Barger for alleged negligence in connection with a May 2009 assault by six Hispanic males in the jail.     Three years after being charged with animal cruelty, Sharon Provost was convicted on June 23 in Adams County Superior Court. Sentencing for the Lind resident is set for Friday, July 15, at 2 p.m. The case originated on July 12, 2008, when the Adams County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant and arrested Provost on East Third Street in Lind.     The Ritzville Golf Association will host a Duck/Duckling Tournament this Sunday, July 17, at the Ritzville Municipal Golf Course.     To the editor: Monday my husband received a phone call from our grandson telling us he had been in a car accident after attending his friend’s wedding in Panama City, Panama. He requested a large sum of money to be used to get him out of jail. We were unable to get in touch with any of our family members to see if he was attending a wedding, so proceeded to send the money. In the meantime I received another call. The family lived on the farm outside Ritzville until Joe became the sheriff and then they moved to the old courthouse.
