    The Adams County Board of Commissioners approved a proposal from Garland/Design-Build Solutions Inc. and Paint Crafters Plus Inc. for roofing material purposes and services for the Adams County Sheriff’s substation at the July 9 meeting. The price of the contract is $14,876, including sales tax. Public Works Director Todd O’Brien said he looked into Paint Crafters Plus, and was satisfied with the company’s references.   • Ritzville City Council approves grant assistance agreement

    During the July 3 meeting, the Ritzville City Council voted 4-0 to authorize Mayor Gary Cook to sign an agreement with the Washington State Department of Commerce (Commerce) for grant assistance regarding the City’s Comprehensive Plan update. Under the agreement, Commerce will provide the City with a $2,500 grant to cover the cost for reviewing and updating the Comprehensive Plan, with regulations to protect critical areas and meet mandated requirements of the Growth Management Act.   • Hospital District sells East Adams Care Center facility

    A unanimous decision of the Adams County Public Hospital District No. 2 Board of Commissioners resulted in the sale of the previous East Adams Care Center. The property, with the exception of three parcels, was sold to Gibraltar Senior Living, LLC. for $500,000. The commissioners made the decision during a special meeting on July 3.     The Ritzville Rodeo Association Drill Team held their second annual Playday on July 8 at the Ritzville Rodeo Arena. The event featured 53 participants, almost twice as many as the previous year’s Playday. Participants came from all over eastern Washington, including Kahlotus, Washtucna, Lind and Ritzville. In October 2017, our cemetery was honored at the America in Bloom Symposium in Boston for Outstanding Cemetery.
