    Students from Lind-Ritzville, Sprague, LaCrosse and Washtucna High Schools are preparing to walk across the stage to receive their high school diplomas in the upcoming weeks. Graduation weekend begins with the Washtunca ceremony at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 30, in the Washtucna school gymnasium. On Saturday, June 6, Lind-Ritzville High School graduation begins at 2 p.m. in Gilson Gymnasium in Ritzville.   • Sheriff Hunt discusses overtime budget with Commissioners

    Adams County Sheriff John Hunt met with commissioners Wednesday, May 20, to discuss the overtime budget for the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. Hunt began with informing commissioners that as of the end of April, 56.1 percent of the set budget for overtime on the police force has been used. Chairman Roger Hartwig asked for explanation and a break down of overtime costs.   • Ritzville Fire responds to potential arson call

    Ritzville Fire Department responded to a call about railroad ties on fire around 9:15 p.m. on May 22. The fire burned thousands of piled railroad ties near the Heinemann Road crossing on North Freese Road. Adams County Fire Protection District No.1 Chief Scott Kembel said 17 local firemen responded to the call, taking eight trucks to the scene.     The H.E. Gritman Senior Center has announced upcoming luncheons for the month of June. There will be no meals at the center for the remainder of the month of May. On June 1, the Senior Center is hostiing a lunch. The menu for the meal is barbecue beef, potato wedges, pea salad and chocolate cream pie.     Tessa Jantz and Trevor Jantz are returning to state golf this year to represent the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague Broncos. Tessa qualified in seventh place out of districts with a total score of 191. She had a sub-district score of 97 and a district score of 94. Trevor is attending state as the first alternate out of districts.
