    The Lind and Ritzville students who traveled to Washington, D.C., in March are inviting the community to an assembly on April 28 to hear about their educational experience at the nation’s capital. The event begins at 1:15 p.m. in Gilson Gymnasium on Friday.   • Eagles hosts dinner for local heroes

    The Eagles Lodge is hosting a dinner on April 28 to recognize Ritzville firefighters Dave Breazeale and Robert Dew for their heroic efforts in saving a resident from a burning home last November. The Friday recognition dinner begins at 6 p.m. at the Eagles Lodge and will feature a baked potato bar meal.   • Ribbon Cutting for prescription drop box

    Members of the public are invited to a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for a prescription drop box on May 3 at noon at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. The event is presented by the Rural East Coalition for Health (REACH). The box will be available for drop off of unused prescriptions 24 hours a day, with no questions asked. Pills, bags and bottles can be left in the box, but not needles, liquids or aerosols.     Tickets for the 2017 Ritzville High School (RHS) and Lind-Ritzville High School (LRHS) Alumni Banquet have been mailed. The Alumni Banquet will be held on May 27 at 6 p.m. at Gilson Gymnasium in Ritzville. Ticket sales for this year’s banquet hosted by the Ritzville and Lind-Ritzville Alumni Association will end on Friday, May 23.   • Structure fire claims three out buildings

    The Ritzville Fire Department responded to a structure fire call on the morning of Tuesday, April 18, on west Cherry Street. The Adams County Fire Protection District No. 1 Fire Chief Scott Kembel said they received the call of a structure fire at 3:52 a.m., which involved three out buildings. Kembel said as he stepped outside of his residence, he could smell the smoke from the fire and noticed the glow of the flames in the distance.     The Ritzville City Council approved the Six-Year Statewide Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) for 2018 through 2023 during the regular meeting on Tuesday, April 18. Robbins began the meeting by explaining the details of the seven priority projects included in the plan.
