  • Goodwill truck in Washtucna

    The Goodwill truck will be in Washtucna at the Community Center located at 287 SW. Main Street. The truck will be there on Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. They will accept most anything except larger appliances. Half of all the proceeds will be donated to the Washtucna Grange. Goodwill normally does not pay for donations but they have a special program for nonprofit fundraising.   • Ronald McDonald Drive ends Feb. 26

    The Lind-Ritzville FFA is conducting their annual Ronald McDonald House fundraising drive, which concludes on Feb. 26. There are boxes at multiple local businesses during this week for item collection. The Lind-Ritzville High School will also have a competition to see who can collect the most items.   • The Eagles gear up for Easter

    The Ritzville Eagles Auxilary and Aerie are gearing up once again for their annual Easter Egg Hunt. This year the hunt will be held on Saturday, March 19, at the Ritzville City Park. The members of the Eagles will begin asking for donations from businesses and individuals. Without the support from Ritzville and the surrounding communities this event would not take place.     The Ritzville City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. with a 15-minute executive session with Milton Rowland who represents the City for the ongoing Well No. 9 project. The meeting began with the approval of Resolution 2016-01, which outlines the specific uses of the consent agenda procedure.   • Ritzville School Board votes to place bond on April ballot

    After attending a Facilities Committee meeting last week, the members of the Ritzville School Board voted unanimously on Monday, Feb. 22, to place the $12.8 million bond back on the April ballot. The bond failed on the February ballot with almost exactly 50 percent of voters casting a ballot against the bond. An estimated 600 registered voters did not cast a ballot in the election.     Michael John Kin Kade, 44, of Dayton died on Feb. 14. Mike is survived by his wife Jessica, daughter Brianna, stepdaughter Kristen Smith, mom Micaela Kin Kade, brother Mark Kin Kade, sisters Christy (Scott) Carruth and Heidi Kin Kade, as well as many nieces and nephews.     Velda Irene Miller died on Feb. 21 at Sacred Heart Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded in love by her family. Velda was born in Gackle, North Dakota on Dec. 19, 1932, to Ray and Hulda Klein. Her family moved to Ritzville in 1942, where Velda graduated in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, John R.     The Bronco mat squad traveled to Tacoma this past weekend to compete in the 28th Mat Classic State Tournament at the Tacoma Dome. There were 24 mats set up and non-stop competition happening across all of them. At this time there was a very small section of clothes for mothers and the remaining stock was geared towards babies.
