Broncos stuggle on Jenkins' court

CHEWELAH — The Jenkins Cougars were tough to beat on their home court last week.

In Northeast 2B tennis action, the Bronco girls struggled to get a win, meanwhile, the Lind-Ritzville/Sprague boys faired a little better.

In boys singles, Jeffrey Christianson topped John David, 6-4, 6-2; and Drank Gloyn edged Alex Backman, 6-6, 7-4, 6-3, for Bronco wins.

Noah Dockery fell to Dylan Deitwai, 1-6, 2-16.

In girls singles, it was all Jenkins.

Carlie Loop fell to Avi Sahota, 2-6, 0-6; Liberty McClanatha dropped two sets to Simi Sahota, 0-6, 0-6; Destiny Phelps lost to Anna Hungerford, 0-6, 1-6; and Meghan Rivers fell to Victoria Eldhagen, 2-6, 0-6.

The girls double team didn’t fair any better, with Danika Cox and Savannah Carruth unable to keep pace with Trinity Ross and Cora Grooms, falling 0-6, 0-6.

In boys doubles, Cameron Olson and Cameron Christianson lost to Hunter Brashler and Bryson Morales, 2-6, 2-6.

And in other doubles matchups, Faye Niccols and Thali Rundquist fell to Svea Voltz and Imke Renders, 0-6, 0-6; and Emmah Kerbs and Isaiah Ginnard lost in three sets to Mackenzie MacKenroy and Melanie Sands, 1-6, 6-2, 7-10.
