Broncos have strong showing at home track meet

RITZVILLE - The Lind-Ritzville/Sprague track team had a strong showing Saturday, April 27, at their home Undeberg Invitational on Jimmy Snider Field.

The Bronco girls finished fourth out of 21 teams with 62 points. Kittitas won the girls title with 75 pints, followed by Davenport with 64 and Reardan with 63.

In the boys division, the Broncos tied for seventh with Liberty (Spangle), with 30 team points teach.

Davenport won the boys title with 119 points. Rounding out the Top 6 teams are Northwest Christian (Colbert) second with 79 team points, Garfield-Palouse third with 72, Kettle Falls fourth with 69, Oakesdale fifth with 57 and Colfax sixth with 36.5.

The boys competition featured 22 teams.

The Broncos were paced by juniors Brody Boness and Zach Klein. Klein was the fastest runner in the boys 200-meter, winning the event in 24.08 seconds and Boness won boys shot put with a throw of 42-08.75, a personal record.

In other Top 3 finishes for the Bronco boys, the 4X400 relay team of seniors Shawn Steinberger and Bridger Moore, Klein and sophomore Damon Schilling finished second with a time of 3:37.99.

And Klein was third in the 400-meter with a time of 53.57.

For the Bronco girls, junior Claire Wellsandt, sophomores Zoe Galbreath and Saige Galbreath, and freshman Allie Mendez combined for a second-place finish in the 4X100 relay in a time of 4:36.27.

Wellsandt had the best individual finish for the local girls, taking third in the 400-meter in 1:06.07.
