Wheat Growers plan to meet at Jake’s Cafe

RITZVILLE – The Adams County Wheat Growers will meet at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, for a hosted breakfast.

The program will take place at Jake’s Cafe, 1604 W. First ST.

Discussion topics will include updates on chemical/herbicides, wheat markets, and state and national policy.

Inslee to move to state electric vehicles

OLYMPIA – Gov. Jay Inslee last week signed an executive order requiring state government to transition to an all-electric vehicle fleet by 2035.

Inslee made the announcement while he was in Scotland for a climate change conference.

“Word has it that 450 private jets were used to fly all of these leaders to and from Glasgow,” state Sen. Mark Schoesler, R-Ritzville said. “It’s a little ironic that they were gathering to find ways to lower carbon emissions while using aircraft that added to Earth’s carbon emissions.

City plans tree-lighting ceremony

RITZVILLE – The city’s annual Christmas tree-lighting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 3 in front of the Ritzville Public Library, 302 W. Main St.

Santa Claus will be present as will carolers.

Businesses and residents can design customized ornaments to put on the tree.

The ornaments can be dropped off at City Hall, 216 E. Main St.
