Spirit on display at parade and pep assembly

RITZVILLE – Students, teachers, staff, parents and community members came together in Ritzville on Thursday, October 14, to celebrate homecoming. A parade was held through downtown Ritzville. Along with a police and fire escort, the marching band under the direction of Jennifer York lead the procession, followed by pickups decorated by each class, along with a "coaches coach", a bus decorated in support of the volleyball team, and the homecoming royalty from Sprague. Elementary school kids waited along Wellsandt Road for the procession to return to Gilson gym.

Inside the gym the band played and the homecoming royalty from Sprague, Washtucna and Lind-Ritzville high schools were introduced. Each class performed a lip synch skit to a particular theme chosen by the class. Freshmen chose an "Arctic Bliss" theme, and lip synched a medley of holiday and winter tunes. An Elvis Presley impersonator joined in. Sophomores chose a "Wild West" theme and sang and danced to a variety of popular country and western tunes. Juniors performed to a medley of songs about the "Sun, the Moon and the Stars", which was their theme. And the senior class of 2022 chose a "Paradise Escape" theme and performed to a medley of beach tunes. Teachers and staff performed a medley of their own, which was, and combination of the themes presented the four classes.

The football, volleyball and cross country teams were presented by coach Whitmore, coach Galbreath and Lind-Ritzville ASB President Dakota Killian. Each team member introduced themselves to the assembled crowd.

As the pep assembly came to a close High School Principal Kevin Terris announced the winning class of the week long spirit completion. While the freshmen class of 2025 made a worthy effort, the winners, and recipient of the Spirit Jug were the senior class of 2022.
