Broncos pin their opponents

RITZVILLE – The Broncos hosted a league wrestling tournament with Chewelah, Colfax, Pomeroy, Liberty and Davenport competing Tuesday, June 8.

Wrestling for the Broncos was Brandon Davis at 126 pounds, and Gabe Smith at 195 pounds.

In a match in against Chewelah's Justice Acosta in the 138 pound weight class, Davis was pinned in the first round. Davis went on to pin Reardan's Noah Hamilton in the third round.

Smith pinned Colfax wrestler Jerry Ottinger in the first round. Smith went on to pin Tyler Stitt of Liberty within seconds of the first round.

Wrestlers Sam Michels, Tommy Rosen and Myra Miller helped with scorekeeping.

The Broncos were scheduled to compete in the South League Championship in Pomeroy Saturday, June 12. The team is coached by Jason Hilzer and assisted by Keith Johnston.
