Restroom coming to city cemetery

RITZVILLE - A restroom is being built in the city cemetery off Division Street.

The unit will be added to the side of the storage building already in place and freshly painted by Eagle Scout Chase Galbreath.

Public Works Director Dave Breazeale said by utilizing materials leftover from past projects, the restroom will only cost the city about $1,000. It will feature a single toilet, and be closed during the winter season like all the city restrooms, in order to prevent frozen pipes.

"People have been asking for one for a long time," Breazeale said. "It was re-roofed a year or two ago, and new windows were put in. It has been a work in progress for a lot of years."

Breazeale said he hoped the project would be complete by Memorial Day, "but you never know what's going to happen from one day to the next around here."

The restroom will be wheelchair accessible.
