Investigation: Driver fell asleep at the wheel

RITZVILLE - Jeremy M. Gleese of Post Falls, Idaho, was taken to East Adams Rural Healthcare after his car overturned 1 mile south of town around 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Gleese, 34, was northbound on U.S. Highway 395, south of Interstate 90, when his vehicle left the roadway and overturned, Washington State Patrol records show. Investigator Trooper Paul Carroll determined Gleese fell asleep at the wheel.

The driver was cited for second-degree negligent driving.

Gleese was wearing his seatbelt, and neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, patrol records show.

His 2005 Chevy AVO four-door passenger car was totaled and towed by Ritzville Towing.

Gleese's condition is not known.
