Ritzville Police Department calls from April 20-30

Ritzville — Here are the Police Department calls for services from April 20-30:

April 20

15:36 —A complainant advised she was having problems with a 50-60-year-old man with short brown hair, blue jeans and a brown leather jacket yelling and cussing at her and her dog, threatening to kill the dog. He appeared intoxicated and was last seen eastbound in the 100 block of East Main Street. An officer responded and spoke with the complainant; the dog was in the complainants yard enclosed by a chain link fence. The man was not located.

16:19 — A complaint was received regarding a trailer partly blocking the alley in the 300 block of West Third Avenue. The landlord was contacted and he contacted a contractor who had been working in the area and asked him to move the trailer.

23:30 — A complaint was received from a subject living on South Columbia regarding her outdoor motion detector light going on and off. She also heard a tapping on one her windows. The area was check by an officer and no one was located. Extra patrols were provided that evening. It was suggested to the complainant she may want to contact the courts regarding a restraining or anti-harassment order as it is believed this is the result of an ongoing domestic situation.

23:35 — Unsecured door on a local church. The building was checked; nothing was out of place. the door was secured and the officer cleared.

April 21

06:20 — A report of a non-injury crash between two tractor-trailers in a parking lot of a local truck stop was received. The officer made contact with the complainant and advised him to exchange information with the other subject involved.

08:15 —A report of a subject yelling and screaming at a residence on West Broadway Avenue was received and an officer responded. He was able to make contact with the subject, who said he was just making a joke about a local business and yelling. He was warned about that type of language at a volume that was disruptive. Alcohol was involved.

10:00 — A request for an officer to respond to an address on East Sixth Avenue was received, requesting assistance in getting a little dog inside. Upon arrival, the officer located the dog already inside the residence. The officer contacted the complainant by phone and she began to ramble about someone being inside her residence taking things again and her mouth hurting. The complainant seemed to be in a normal state of confusion. State agencies and the family have been contacted numerous times regarding the condition of the complainant.

April 22

01:12 — An officer responded to a local truck stop regarding a counterfeit bill being passed. The same thing happened on April 13. A review of security footage will be done by the manager to determine if a suspect can be located. The bills and the case will be forwarded to the U.S. Secret Service.

03:25 — An officer on routine patrol on Par Drive located the trunk of a vehicle open and some electronic devices inside. The registered owner could not be reached by phone so the trunk was secured. The owner was contacted at his residence and asked to check the vehicle which was unlocked, for any missing items. He did not find anything missing from inside the vehicle and said he would check the trunk in the morning. This is the same vehicle that had been report as being prowled a few days earlier. The inventory of missing items from that vehicle prowling had not been received from the owner yet.

08:43 — A residential burglary alarm was received from a residence on South Adams. The alarm company contacted the resident and got the correct password. Upon contact a family member advised another family member left for an appointment and forgot to de-activate the alarm.

20:32 — A complainant called requesting contact with an officer regarding child custody issues. An officer responded and made contact with the complainant, who advised the child exchange was to take place in Lincoln County.

20:37 — A complaint was received regarding a vehicle parked for an extended period of time near Third and Palouse with expired license plates. The vehicle owner said it will be moved in the next day or two.

April 23

08:49 — An officer observed a white dog in the park. He picked up the dog and was able to locate the owner and the dog was returned. It was determined the dog belonged to a family member and a warning was given abut the dog running at-large and not being licensed.

10:19 — A report of an abandon vehicle was received and an officer located it on West Sixth Stret. The tabs were expired and the vehicle was tagged as abandoned. It will be towed per state law when COVID-19 restrictions are relaxed.

10:23 — A complainant reported finding a baggie with white powdery substance in it. An officer checked it and determined the baggie should be thrown away. It was suggested the complaint dispose of the unknown substance.

21:20 — A complainant called to report receiving threatening text messages on his social media. This is an ongoing domestic relationship that did not work out. The officer advised all subjects involved to block each other and move on with their lives.

23:23 — A request for a civil standby was received from a subject wishing to retrieve her personal belonging from a residence on East Birch. An officer stood by until the complainant could get someone to help her move the items.

April 24

07:32 — A complainant reported a suspicious woman walking in the alley off of East Alder.

16:07 — A call was received from a local truck stop requesting an officer regarding an ongoing child custody issue. The officer made phone contact with the complainant and provided a case number, suggesting they contact their attorney or the court of jurisdiction.

16:50 — A request for a welfare check was received as the complainant had not been able to contact his parents for a week. An officer made contact with the subjects and advised them of the nature of his contact. They were requested to call the complainant.

17:45 — A complainant was received regarding a primer black Honda speeding up West Main Avenue. It is in the area 3-4 times a day and is normally speeding. The area was checked by an officer and the vehicle was not located. Extra patrols were requested in the area.

21:50 — A call was received regarding child custody issues. An officer responded and advised the complainant they would have to address the matter with the court of jurisdiction. The issue involved courts in Lincoln and Whitman counties and locations for the exchanges.

23:31 — An officer responded to assist the ambulance for a call of a 3-week-old child with discolored lips. The child looked somewhat jaundice but was breathing and was awake. The officer cleared after the ambulance crew arrived.

April 26

00:48 — Two reports of juveniles running in the areas of Second and Palouse then near the post office were received. An officer checked the areas and was unable to locate anything suspicious.

11:44 — A complainant advised of malicious mischief to his vehicle had taken place in 100 block of East Sixth. The complainant advised the incident occurred sometime April 23, when the complainant his driver’s side mirror was broken while parked on the north side of the street. The responding officer observed the rear cover of the mirror missing and the frame of the mirror was broken. The complainant stated the cost of replacing the mirror is $443.00.

17:42 — A complainant requested contact with an officer regarding on going domestic dispute over child visitation and other issues.

April 27

04:16 — The complainant called advising the dispatcher there was a policeman in her house. The dispatcher request clarification from the complainant. The on-call officer did not respond due to repeated calls of this nature at the same address. The complainant has a difficult time with reality and gets confused often. Several attempts to get family members and state agencies to respond to address the ongoing issues and hallucinations have been un-successful.

April 28

21:45 — A subject called requesting the night officer keep an eye on his truck as it was broke down in the parking lot of a local fast food restaurant.

April 30

12:30 — A welfare check request was received from a school administrator regarding a student who not been in touch with the school for several days. They left a packet of assignments at the student’s residence, but have been unable to contact the parents. An officer responded and made contact with the students father, who advised his wife has been helping a friend in the Ralston area and does not get cell service in that area. He said he will call the complainant on her cell phone right away. The complainant advised the father had contacted her and everything was fine.
