Larry Oscar Erichsen

Larry Oscar Erichsen, entered his heavenly home on January 2, 2020 at the age of 77. His passing, peaceful and restful, at the Hospice Home in Spokane, was the result of a nine month battle fighting pancreatic cancer. Larry had lived a full and wonderful life.

Larry was born on November 21, 1942 in Plentywood, Montana to Ludvig Erichsen & Addie (Erichsen) DeMoss. He graduated from Plentywood High School in 1960. After graduation he went to the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Valley Forge. He met a fellow shipmate who had a sister who wanted a pen pal and Larry became the lucky guy. After his tour, he met Carole and they were married on August 7, 1966. After they married, they moved to Spokane, WA., where he attended Kinman Business University. After graduating he worked at the Deer Park Hospital where their two children, a daughter Lana and a son Larry "Bo" were born.

He worked many jobs while putting Carole and himself through Northern Montana College in Havre, MT. In the 1980's he started as a clerk in the U.S. Post Office in Havre, MT. In 1985 he became a Post Master in Kremlin, MT. He was there for 3 years and in 1988 he transferred to Big Sandy, MT where he was until 1993. He then was transferred to Sprague, WA., where they lived for five years. One of those years he had become the Mayor of Sprague. Then he transferred to Warden, WA in 1998 and retired in 2008. They lived in Moses Lake until Carole passed away in 2014 and he moved to Cheney, WA.

Larry belonged to Cheney Ward 2, Church of Latter Day Saints, Washington Branch National League of Postmasters, American Legion, VFW, Viet Nam Vets, D.A.V. & Royal Neighbors.

He and Janet Rasmussen, also a retired Postmaster, having been friends for years, discovered they had more in common than just being retired PM's and were married on June 11, 2016.

He is preceded in death by his late wife Carole, father Ludvig, brother Andy, sisters Deann Dubois, Vaneasa Buell, Isabell (Dizzy) McAlpin, baby brother David, sister-in-law Dottie, Nieces Echo and Michelle and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He is survived by his Mom Addie (Erichsen) DeMoss (97), current wife Janet, brothers Kenny, Wayne (Sandy), LeRoy, his children Lana (Billy) Richmond, Larry "Bo", grandchildren Cayla Clark (4 children), Jessica Bowen (3 children), Cory and Ryan Dahl, two Step children Kim Raabe and Richard "Rick" Rasmussen, and many nieces and nephews and cousins and great nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be January 31st, 11:00 AM at LDS Church at 10405 W. Melville Rd., Cheney, WA. Military honors at Veterans Cemetery, Medical Lake, at 2:15. All are welcomed.
