Hard to imagine with the weather being what it is all around the country that spring training for Major League baseball teams is underway. For the Oakland Athletics and the Seattle Mariners it has a little deeper meaning since they will be playing the very first games of the season in Japan against each other on March 20 and 21. They will be playing their first spring training game against the A’s today (Feb. 21).

The last time the Mariners were in the baseball playoffs was 2001. That has been a very long time ago yet the Mariners are still a popular team just not a very successful one.
