Lind-Ritzville tracksters place at Liberty

SPANGLE — The Broncos track and field struggled Wednesday, April 10, to gain traction as a team at a league meet at Liberty High School, but several local athletes put in solid individual performances.

Valley Christian won both the boys and girls team titles, with the boys scoring 99.5 points and the girls scoring 122.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague was fifth in both, with 43 points in boys and 38 in girls team scoring.

In individual results, junior John Stromberger won the boys javelin with a flight of 134-07.5, and the boys 4X100 relay team of junior Zach Klein, seniors Shawn Steinberger and Brock Kinch, and sophomore Damon Shilling won their event with a time of 45.46.

Sophomore Zoe Galbreath was the only girl to win an event, taking first in the 400-meter with a time of 1:08.74, a school record.

Several Broncos also took second place in individual events, including the girls 4X100 relay, where the team of juniors Claire Wellsandt and Addy Colbert, sophomore Saige Galbreath and freshman Allie Mendez finished with a time of 56.37. The same girls combined for a second-place finish in the 4X200 relay with a time of 1:59.67, as well.

Individual second-place finishes were logged by junior Brody Boness in boys shot put, 39-04; senior Cindy Julien in girls shot put, 28-06.5; and Zoe Galbreath in girls pole vault, 8-0.

Shot Put — sophomore Aidan Miller, 7th, 32-08.5; junior Alexis Mendoza, 10th, 31-06.25; and sophomore Erik Klewin, 21st, 23-03.5.

Discus — Miller, 4th, 95-10; Boness, 5th, 95-05; Mendoza, 9th, 83-10; Klewin, 12th, 70-0; and freshman Cameron Boness, 14th, 68-07.

Javelin — Brody Boness, 6th, 115-0; Heater, 11th, 100-11; Cameron Boness, 15th, 91-05; Klewin, 25th, 69-06; and senior Kemper Smith, 28th, 66-0.

High Jump — Kubik, 4th (tie), 5-02; and Cresse, 7th (tie), 5-0.
