Local exhibitors succeed at Jr. Livestock Show

The 83rd annual Jr. Livestock Show of Spokane was held May 1-5, attracting more than 500 youth exhibitors from Washington, Idaho and Montana.

The event showcases market and prospect beef, hog, sheep, and goat 4-H and FFA projects over 4 days of competition, ending with the market livestock auction on May 5.

Local exhibitors in the beef department were Abby Gering and Tara Tellefson representing Lind-Ritzville FFA and Benjamin Clinesmith, Isaac Clinesmith, Nicholas Clinesmith, Matthew Clinesmith, and Alyssa Williams representing Ritzville Livestock 4-H Club.

Tellefson received Reserve Champion for her FFA Market Steer, Reserve Champion Sr. FFA Fitting and Showing and Grand Champion FFA Prospect Steer.

Williams was named Grand Champion in Beef Fitting and Showing - Jr 4-H Division, as well as seventh overall 4-H market steer and ninth overall 4-H prospect steer.

Benjamin Clinesmith was awarded top honors for his 4-H Oral Presentation in the Intermediate Division.

In the 4-H Livestock Judging Contest, Williams placed second and Zoe Galbreath placed fourth in the Jr. category.

The Ritzville Livestock 4-H Club received second place in the Herdsmanship Contest, with their string of seven cattle entries.
