Christmas Kickoff Weekend Dec. 1-3

The annual Ritzville Christmas Kickoff weekend occurs on Friday, Dec. 1, through Sunday, Dec. 3, throughout the City of Ritzville.

The festivities begin on Friday, Dec. 1, with a Crafternoon event at the Ritzville Public Library building. The Christmas at the Carnegie event allows local residents to design an ornament to hang on the town tree.

Immediately following ornament decoration, residents are invited to attend the annual tree lighting ceremony at 5 p.m.

This is the third year of the Christmas at the Carnegie, and the Friends of the Library members will provide hot chocolate and cookies inside the building after the tree lighting.

Local businesses are participating in a Shop Local campaign during the two-day event. The businesses’ specials for the holiday season will be listed in the Nov. 30 edition of The Journal.

From 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, the AAUW Holiday Bazaar is occurring at the Ritzville Grade School.

The children’s movie matinee is on Dec. 3. Doors open at 1:15 p.m. with the movie starting at 2 p.m.

The Ritzville Fire Department will deliver Santa after the movie, where children will receive free treats.

Children who are not attending the movie are welcome to come see Santa and receive treats around 4 p.m.
