Broncos compete in cross county Districts: Melville qualifies for Regionals

The Broncos cross country team had success at the 1B/2B District 7 Championships on Oct. 21.

Rose Melville finished second in the varsity girls’ 5,000-meter race with a personal record of 20 minutes and 37 seconds. Melville’s time was less than a minute behind the race’s winner, St. George’s Jora Gleason, who clocked in at 19:48.

In the same race, Hannah Brittain finished with a personal record of 28:34.

On the boys’ side, Erik Hughes finished the varsity boys’ 5,000 meter race in 30:31, while Ethan Hughes clocked in at 30:38, a personal record for both athletes.

Head Coach Liz Melville said all four athletes ran a great race.

The season is over for the Hughes brothers and Brittain. Rose Melville will compete in the 1B/2B District 7 and 9 Regional race on Oct. 28 at the Colfax Golf Course.

If Rose Melville finishes in the top 28 at Regionals, she will compete in the 1B/2B State Championships on Nov. 4 in Pasco.
