Vehicle versus pedestrian collision occurs on I-90 outside of Ritzville

On Oct. 9, Ritzville Emergency Medical Services, Ritzville Fire Department and Washington State Patrol responded to a two-vehicle, injury collision on eastbound Interstate 90 at Milepost 237, 13 miles outside of the Ritzville city limits.

According to a WSP collision memo, Richard Boring, 76, was driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado on I-90 when his vehicle drifted into the right shoulder. The vehicle then collided with a 2016 Chevy Malibu and its driver, which had stopped at Milepost 237.

The Silverado struck Brianna Harper, 21, who was standing outside of the Chevy Malibu next to the driver’s side door.

Life Flight transported Harper to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane.

T.J. Benavidez, 18, who was standing on the passenger’s side of the Malibu was uninjured.

The cause of the collision is listed as drifting onto the shoulder and charges are pending.
