Local exhibitors thrive at Adams County Fair

After a short break from the Wheat Land Communities’ Fair, a group of local exhibitors packed up their livestock and traveled to Othello to compete in the Adams County Fair on Sept. 13-16.

During the four-day event, Lind and Ritzville exhibitors netted the top awards in multiple livestock competitions.

Lind-Ritzville High School Senior Tara Tellefson ended her career in Adams County by netting the top award in the market class. Tellefson also competed as a finalist in the Fitting and Showing contest for FFA beef exhibitors.

Also in the beef department, Alyssa Williams swept the 4-H division by earning all of the top awards.

On Wednesday, Sept.13, her steer was selected as the Grand Champion 4-H steer.

The following day, Williams competed in the Fitting and Showing contest, where her showmanship skills earned her the Grand Champion 4-H Fitting and Showing title.

Williams then went on to compete in the 4-H Round Robin contest, and won the event, earning her the title of the 4-H Round Robin Champion.

Abby Gering also exhibited a steer at the Adams County Fair, and she qualified as a finalist in the FFA Fitting and Showing beef contest.

In the sheep department, Lind-Ritzville High School Senior Nathan Naught received the Grand Champion FFA market lamb title. Also showing a lamb at the fair was Hayley Rushing, and she qualified for the finals in the Novice Fitting and Showing competition as a first-year exhibitor.

Rounding out the list of local exhibitors at the fair were Grace and Ella Greenwalt. Grace Greenwalt qualified for the market finals with her hog at the fair.
